Scott MacScott by Rick

Scott MacScott CTM is a seasoned Tour Manager with over 20 years of guiding experience. Traveling to 46 countries and touring groups from 6 continents, Scott likes to call the world his home. Graduating with honors in business, Scott has received a Jeffersonian education from his studies both in the United States as well as in Europe. Serving on the Board of Directors of FSA Inc., a multi-million dollar company, Scott has had years of experience understanding the needs of an international clientele. He has lectured on various travel topics in Asia, North America, South America and Europe. Featured by prominent tour companies in their international marketing, and various trade publications, Scott has become known for delivering a quality speaking and touring experience. A true pioneer, he was among the first class awarded the coveted CTM (Certified Tour Manager) designation accredited by Breda University of the Netherlands. Today he also holds licenses to guide in New York City and Washington DC.

Scott helps define what a professional Tour Manager is through his elected role as Chairman of the International Association of Tour Managers www.IATM.co.uk which is the world’s largest and oldest professional association of Tour Managers, Tour Directors and Tour Guides. Following in the footsteps of his virtual mentor Thomas Jefferson, Scott has studied 5 languages, is teaching himself to play the bagpipes, started a language school in Taiwan and the Asian language department at The State University College at Buffalo. He participated in the first Cross Country Bicycle Skydive Tour for Charity SkyRide USA. This event was created in order to fund-raise for The River Fund, an organization committed to help those who are terminally ill and have no family. The event consisted of a 5000 mile cross country bicycle trip and skydiving along the way to raise money. Back in 1997, this was the first travel tour for charity that was simultaneously blogged online.

When not touring you may find Scott equally at home training for the Ironman Triathlon. As captain of sailing yachts in the open oceans; piloting small planes through the New England skies; skydiving into public events; journeying on horseback through Mongolia or just enjoying a cup of tea with a chance soul somewhere in the world. The end of last decade also marked the end of one of his biggest projects to date. Scott is the architect engineer and most of the time sole builder of his dream home in the Catskill Mountains of New York. Scott is married to Andrea Torres with whom he shares his passion for travelling. Scott MacScott is the owner of the The Travels LLC which is an educational tour company that conducts tours over land sea and air for small groups.

Scott MacScott is also the founder of the Green Guide Alliance. An non-profit entity and online community from the Tourism industry that helps the traveling public understand the environmental aspects of the areas they are touring with the goal of increasing the understanding and adoption of worthy environmental initiatives.
